Sonya Blade is back in the series for Mortal Kombat 11, and she’s voiced by former UFC fighter and current WWE wrestler Ronda Rousey. One of Scorpion’s fatalities involves the fighter throwing his spear through an enemy’s chest before decapitating them and impaling the severed head. Sub-Zero’s doppelgänger Scorpion is also getting in on the fun with his signature chain-and-spear combination weapon. After freezing an enemy, he decapitates them with his ax, then shatters their frozen head. Sub-Zero returns with his icy attacks in tow, and he has a deservedly flashy fatality move. His “dark” character will be central to the main story. RaidenĬlassic Mortal Kombat character Raiden returns to the lineup in Mortal Kombat 11, and he’ll have his powerful magical bolt abilities, as well as acrobatic dodges and a spear weapon.

Mortal Kombat 11’s full character roster has not been unveiled yet, but several of the biggest characters appeared during the game’s official announcement stream in January, and a few have been revealed here and there as we get closer to the game’s release. Mortal Kombat 11 features brutal fatalities, a cast of memorable characters old and new, and a wild, time-hopping story. It’s no surprise that the studio produced a follow-up, and it’s even gorier and more intense than its predecessors. NetherRealm is one of the best fighting game studios on the planet, with Mortal Kombat X among its most polished and engaging titles. It’s unknown if the bolstered fighter roster will also feature those games’ DLC characters which includes Alien, Leatherface, Jason Voorhees, Kratos, Freddy Krueger and many more. Of course, this also potentially means absent characters like Smoke and Takeda will finally make a return. Judging by the sounds of the new leaks though, characters from previous games will be integrated into the upgraded engine that Mortal Kombat 11 runs on.
The last time a character roster was this massive in the series was Mortal Kombat Armageddon on the PlayStation 2, which featured 62 fighters. Since this technically isn’t an entirely new Mortal Kombat, it’s the closest thing we’ll get to a “new” experience in the series. However, these claims were already made as far back as September by other sources, so there might be an ounce of credibility here.

Apparently, the next game will feature a massive roster of 50 combatants featuring characters taken from the last three games in the series. The leak for the next Mortal Kombat game suggests that it will be a “legacy” title of sorts, basically acting as a re-release of Mortal Kombat 11 but with big additions. It apparently includes characters taken from both the reboot ( MK9) and Mortal Kombat X. According to a new leak, developer NetherRealm Studios is planning a massive fighter roster for the next title (which may double as Mortal Kombat 12). Leaks began appearing online about the next Mortal Kombat game for the past few months now, and most of them tell the same story.
